A two-stage layout combines classification and sorting with controlled dosing to maintain steady material flow and repeatable separation. The first stage splits the input into size fractions, which helps prevent overloading and improves separation efficiency. In the second stage, each fraction is processed separately through ECS and X-ray sorting (XRT), allowing tuning by fraction and improving non-ferrous recovery.

Process overview

Stage 1 — Classification: Feeder → Fe magnet (eject ferrous) → Screen → size fractions: 0–10 (fines) / 10–30 / 30–100 / >100 (oversize).

Stage 2 — Sorting (per fraction): Feeder → Fe magnet (eject ferrous) → ECS → drop: non-metal + wire + stainless + PCB → eject: non-ferrous metal → XRT → drop: Al → eject: handpicking.
